Japanese traditions - Celebrating 'Hanami'

Stumbled upon this term some time back and decided to find out more about it...

"Hanami" is the traditional practice of having picnics under a blooming Ume (plum) or Sakura tree. This custom was initially limited to only the elites of the imperial court but soon spread to the samurai society and the common people. Under the trees, people bonded over sake and feasted lavishly.

Since Ume and Sakura are in season approximately between April to June, we thought of creating a few simple side dishes that people may whip out when partaking Hanami.
